About Jeff Siegel

Elected in November 2018, Sheriff Jeff Siegel started his career in law enforcement as a jail officer with the Lagrange County Sheriff's Department. In 1991, he began working at the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office and was assigned to the Patrol Division. After working a short time in Patrol, Sheriff Siegel accepted an assignment to work in the multijurisdictional drug unit known at that time as the Elkhart County Drug Task Force. In 1997, he was promoted to Detective where he focused on property crimes as well as crimes against children. In 2004, he was promoted to Captain of the Detective Bureau. Throughout his time in the detective bureau, Sheriff Siegel became a polygraph examiner and a member of the American Polygraph Association. Sheriff Siegel is also a PELA (Police Executive Leadership Academy) graduate and the current president of the Elkhart County Drug Free Partnership.
