Join ECSO Reserves

Dedicated men and women wanting to serve the community have a great opportunity with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

Reserve officers are volunteers authorized by the Sheriff to enforce the law. Each reserve candidate is required to complete a 40-hour Basic Academy here in Elkhart County. Following the academy, all reserve officers complete field training before being approved for solo duties within the community.

Reserves serve the agency and community just like a full-time law enforcement officer. Our reserve program offers many opportunities that are not available or offered in other agencies. This includes the opportunity to receive specific training to become members of specialized teams that respond to serve our community during critical incidents.
